Short update on my latest hobby

For those who are interested in the current state of my skateboarding endeavors - feel free to compare the following pic with the one two post below :-)

chien pien, wan hua - a thausand changes, ten thausand forms

...or the latest book i've read...again - "Sun Tzu's The Art of War".

and here is the jizz of it - meaning the most memorable encounters of mine while i was reading this great piece of literature.

"To kill the enemy is only impulsive rage; but to profit from his defeat is to gain over his wealth"
"To break the enemy's resistance without fighting is the supreme skill"
"Invincibility lies in one's own hands, but the enemy's vulnerability is of his own making"
"Energy is like a fully drawn crossbow; the decision is to strike in the timely release of the trigger."

and here my favourite one that TOTALLY applies to my life:

"NONE OF THE FIVE ELEMENTS - WATER, FIRE, WOOD, METAL AND EARTH - IS ALWAYS PROMINENT; NONE OF THE FOUR SEASONS CAN LAST FOREVER; THE DAYS ARE SOMETIMES LONGER AND SOMETIMES SHORTER; AND THE MOON SOMETIMES WAXES AND SOMETIMES WANES.

and a final one...

"Know your enemy, know yourself and your victory will be undoubted."

So far so good - this is what kept my mind busy lately. Next in the pipeline: The Prince from Niccolo Machiavelli. So stay tuned for more enriching quote extravaganza.

Hope to hear from all of you

i am alive...

hideho,

after a long time of written absence i want to announce my comeback with...somewhat...useless information. what happened in the last couple of weeks:

1. a trip to mumbai (former bombay) india: in short - loud, poor, dirty - loads of work, numerous conversations with my fellow indians, some presentations and overall a successful stay for my company

2. the purchase of my newest gadget - please refer to the picture below. back to the roots you might say - and you are right indeed. since i live close to a skate park and i did skateboard when i was younger i figured that this might be a good workout on the weekends. we will see what happens - but since my friend gee is joining me it is going to be fun at least. two 25 year old idiots on skateboards - that has to be good...right ?

other than that i still feel comfortable in this disneyland-like city called singapore. the job is great...so what else is left to say other than me hoping you are fine???

alright fellow readers - i am out of here...but will be back shortly with some detailed descriptions on the latest bails and stories.

bangkok - sins and tragedies

...actually i could stop right at this point with my story - cause the name speaks for itself. but maybe i give it a shot and share my feelings and experiences i made in thalands capitol with you. yet another business trip brought me here namely the partner channel enablement bootcamp - which in fact is not more than a vast amount of workshops given to SAPs partners - so nothing that could probably interest you i guess.so lets start with the "bangkok" monologues instead. as nasty as it might sound now but i would actually rename the city to bang cock. quite frankly speaking the city is a pool for western european fuck ups who try to get some a game to the bedroom because they cannot get it at home anymore. this rough - but honest - summary of the cities major intent is caused by two major incidents. And here are the related storyboards:

1.Markus @ Hyatt Hotel Bar Bangkok

Since every club closes around 12 in bangkok on Tuesdays and we still felt the urge to get a cold beer our quest for some liquid nutrition brought us to Hyatt hotel. As soon as you enter this hell hole and encounter the strange sounds of the live band the magic starts to happen. caucasians mingle with thais - girlfriends get pissed off by women hitting on their husbands all the time and i am in the middle - touched and hit on all the time. the only way to overcome this unpleasant situation is by simply ignoring the fact that prostitutes are pinching your hand and butt all the time. this is about the time when they realize that 25 year old austrians are not interested in (granted) good looking hookers from the subasian continent. however though - there is some fat and ugly people making the pitch, dancing with these thin and unfortunate thai girls which made me feel really sad - namely by realizing that the stories i heard about this place are really not a hoax.

2.Markus and Hock Peng (my colleague) @ Patpong (Red Light District)

After my colleague and I got some cloths shopping done at 11pm last night (11.05.2007) he wanted to give me the real thai treatment and show me Bangkoks red light district). You cant really refuse as someone being me and therefore we hit the subway and went there. it started off quite ok with a couple of nice shops selling sex dvds - so nothing to get angry about and progressed to a shocking experience by walking the patpong stretch up and down. the middle part of the road is occupied by people selling fake products - the right an left lead to "clubs" presenting the interested tourist with "shows" of a wide range - starting from women doing freaky things with razorblades and ping pong balls up to women having sex on stage with ugly british guys...at that point in time i want to make the clear point that i did NOT attend one of these shows - i have been told these stories by my colleague while we were having a beer outside one of these noisy places. i am not even going to get into the prostitues running around and hunting for foreigners thing because it really disgusts me...

So overall the impression that bangkok left with me is the one of a troubled city that has lost the fight against sex tourism a long time ago and cannot get out of it anymore. there might be a lot of respectable places that i havent seen but you can really feel the inherent anger of people on us caucasians that we screwed up their country...

...which made me think and lead to the conclusion that - YES we ARE responsible for that mess - and NO - there is no foreseeable way out of this since its one of the major sources of income in thailand. we did it again dum dums...so whenever anyone who is fat bold and ugly tells you he is going to spend his vacation in thailand because of the nice landscape just give it a shot and spit on him...cause thats hard to believe once you have seen whats going on here in bangkok.

alright then - a drastic story with no ending this time - i a not going to be back in thailand soon i guess...but hey at least the food is good...

singapore update

hi guys,

due to my continuous efforts to expand the reach of this blog i already had people complaining about the fact that my posts are mainly in german. since i am a nice guy and i am capable of communicating in english as well i hereby concur to your wish people and will hook you up with an english update every once in a while. so what happened in my life recently - nothing big really. job is going very well - travelling has added some value to it as well i suppose - and i am cought up in this constant wave of learning and getting real life business exposure...

...a good thing to have as a young graduate to be quite honest. the major learning of the last couple of weeks was basically the fact that you know very little once you graduate. however if you put in some effort your first weeks, months, years of working you can actually leverage on you non existing knowledge and create great opportunities to grow. so i am trying to make my best out of it and get my butt on the line as often as possible.

there is no news on the private sector whatsoever though - still single but still alive and feeling comfortable. since this is becoming a constant state of mind already i got quite used to it and do not care any more. its a waste of time to even think about it which is why i am not going to elaborate on it further...

however it would be good if each and everyone could give me a quick update on his or her current situation (jobs, etc.) because i havent heard from most of you in ages - some people actively use this strange technology called e mail every once in a while but most of the others dont...so make use of it...

cheers for the moment from flipping hot singapore...
